Setting Up Life360 for Family Location Sharing

A walkthrough for creating a Life360 Circle so family members can see each other's location with consent.

Life360 is a consensual location-sharing app — every member of a Circle can see that they are being tracked, and can leave at any time. It is built for families keeping tabs on kids, elderly relatives, or each other on a road trip, not for tracking someone without their knowledge.

Create a Circle

  1. Download Life360 and create an account.
  2. Tap Create Circle, name it, and send the invite code to family members.
  3. Each person installs the app, joins with the code, and grants location permission themselves.

Good practice

Agree as a family on what the Circle is for, and revisit it as kids get older — being upfront about tracking (and giving people the ability to opt out) is what keeps this a trust-building tool rather than a surveillance one.
