"No location found" or "Location Not Available" almost always means the missing device is offline, dead, or has location services disabled — not that Find My is broken.
Checklist
- Check the last known location. Find My shows the last location before the device went offline, with a timestamp — that alone is often enough.
- Give it time. If "Send Last Location" was on, the device reports its position right as the battery dies, but this can take a few minutes to sync.
- Check Find My network coverage. Offline devices can still be located via nearby Apple devices even when powered off, on iPhone 11 and later — but only where there is enough foot traffic for another device to pass by.
- Confirm it was set up correctly beforehand. If Find My was never turned on for that device, no history exists to show — see our Find My setup guide so this does not happen again.
If none of that works
Mark the device as lost so it locks and displays a contact message the moment it does come online, and contact your carrier about suspending the SIM if you suspect theft.
